Center for Sustainable Logistics and Supply Chains’ Post

In our digital age, remote work and virtual meetings have reduced travel-related CO2 emissions, introducing significant environmental benefits. But let’s talk about a lesser-known truth: opting to turn off your camera during online meetings carries an immense environmental impact. A study found that a single hour of video conferencing emits 150-1,000g of CO2, requiring 2-12 liters of water and a land area equivalent to produce an iPad Mini. Surprisingly, you can shrink these footprints by an incredible 96% by simply keeping your camera off. The study examined the carbon, water, and land footprints of data usage on platforms like YouTube, Zoom, and social media. Since data processing demands substantial electricity, reducing data consumption emerges as an impactful green choice. Even before the pandemic, the internet contributed 3.7% of global greenhouse gas emissions. So, let's add an eco-friendly touch to our digital habits. Every camera-off moment is a step towards curbing our digital carbon footprint. 🌏📲 #csls #myklu  #sustainability #onlinemeetings #internetemissions #digitalage
