Dear Sir or Madam,

How does change happen in times of greenwashing or a deluge online returns? Das Gleiche in Grün ("The same in green") is the answer. In the podcast of the same name, my partner and I tackle complex problems in logistics. Why? Sometimes it helps to break down complex issues into simple ones and pay attention to the details. In the world of logistics in particular, there are exciting, astonishing, and helpful things to discover.

To this end, I’d like to introduce you and your kids to my hidden picture book of logistics. Made possible in a committed collaboration between business and science, we show the diverse facets of logistics, including the e-commerce process, an intermodal terminal, and the supply chain control tower.

Join the conversation on LinkedIn about how current research reflects our hopefully more sustainable future. Ten members of our faculty have noted the trends that will affect us in 2024, spanning career tips to Trump. What are next year’s key issues and trends in your view?

Also in this issue: In his World Bank Report, Professor Alan McKinnon shows how logistics decarbonization in lower income countries can succeed. Professor Johannes Meuer explains the the opportunities of the circular economy..And can you believe it? A new study by Prof. Christina Raasch shows that almost fifty percent of breakthrough innovations come not from company development departments, but straight from at times frustrated customers. One great example: the washing machine.

Comments, questions or festive wishes - feel free to write to me!

I wish you a pleasant, confident turn of the year.

Yours,

Prof. Dr. Moritz Petersen
Assistant Professor of Sustainable Supply Chain Practice,
Co-Director Center for Sustainable Logistics and Supply Chains
